Alfred Surgery joined the Swedish Surgical Association’s annual educational day in Stockholm, where surgical professionals came together to discuss the future of surgical training in Sweden. Representing Alfred Surgery, Knut Borch took part in the day and contributed to the discussions on structured surgical education and competency development.

Building structured surgical education

The educational day, held at Frey Hotel in Stockholm, brought together professionals with a shared interest in strengthening surgical education and training.

The discussions focused on practical challenges in organising structured surgical education, including finding the right balance between clinical workload and dedicated training time, providing effective mentorship, and defining clear competency milestones.

These challenges are not unique to Sweden. Across healthcare systems, surgical teams are looking for ways to make training more structured while ensuring that education remains closely connected to clinical practice.

Learning across borders

For Alfred Surgery, the day provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore how digital tools can support more structured and transparent surgical training.

The strong engagement in the room showed the shared ambition to improve how surgical professionals learn, develop and demonstrate competence. Connecting these needs with practical digital solutions is an important part of Alfred Surgery’s continued work in surgical education.
