At the 7th National Meeting on Robotic-Assisted Abdominal & Gastrointestinal Surgery in Stavanger, Alfred Surgery was presented as a platform for scaling structured surgical education and robotic training across healthcare systems.

Scaling structured robotic training

The two-day meeting brought together experts in robotic surgery to discuss the future of robotic-assisted surgery, with a strong focus on implementation, standardisation and scaling surgical training.

David Lourié and the Alfred Surgery team presented the platform and shared how structured digital education can support the development of surgical competence across healthcare systems.

Discussions with different centres highlighted both the importance of standardised robotic training and the practical barriers to implementing and scaling effective training programmes. For Alfred Surgery, these insights reinforce the need for structured, accessible and scalable approaches to surgical education as robotic surgery continues to develop.

Connecting training and clinical practice

Before the meeting, David Lourié visited Stavanger University Hospital to proctor Henrik Hætta and Enric Duque during robotic inguinal TAPP surgery, together with Mehdi Skalli.

The combination of hands-on clinical training and structured digital education reflects Alfred Surgery’s approach to supporting surgical professionals throughout their learning journey. The meeting provided valuable insights into the future of robotic surgery and further strengthened connections with professionals working to improve surgical training and implementation.
